White men with weapons (ustinov theatre)

Truly amazing peice of work. Really touched the heart. One man leaves you truly stunned.

White men with weapons performed at the Ustinov theatre on the 21st of January.
The set was plain and yet it still worked the set just consisted of a bed and a bed side chest with a table and chair and of course the accessories. It just shows that for a truly emotional piece to be betrayed you don’t need any of this fancy scenery. The actor made the scenery what it became
The actor who played all these characters you couldn’t fault the man. His body language was perfect his accents were outstanding and you believed that he was who he said he was.  He learnt every line and never had any slip ups. He kept his focus and he meant every word that he said on that stage.
Overall I think that this play was faultless it’s a must see performance. Being moved like that by one man it’s amazing and making people leave in silence because they are stunned by what they just saw I take my hat off to him.
A white man with weapons was performed by one man playing loads of different characters. It didn’t have a specific storyline to the play it was just all these different characters telling the audience there story. It started off with a simple lowest rank man in the army telling the audience how he hates making his bed. The interesting element was that he was talking to other characters that weren’t there. And then he moved on to being the highest rank and how they treat the soldiers and then the vicar this piece of drama was truly astonishing.
One of the best elements of this play was the fact that it was such a hard hitting and emotional subject it still was funny at the start when this soldier is making his bed just the certain things that was said for example “always has to be at a fucking 45 degree angle” even though you know it’s true the way his comical timing was just made you laugh. And then when he was getting changed he said something like “you don’t just need a belt because a belt doesn’t hold it up instead they add a piece of fucking string” and you can’t help but laugh. That is why it’s one of the best elements because if a play is so deep it’s good to have something to break away from.
